Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) launched its much talked about premium hatchback the Hyundai i20 this week. The five door compact car is powered by a 1.2 litre petrol Kappa engine, and is available in three variants – Magna, Asta and Asta (O) and seven different colours. Its price ranges from Rs. 4.80 lakh to Rs. 5.82 lakh.
With its top-end model equipped with as many as 6 airbags, the i20 is being touted as the safest car in its segment. All its models have telescopic steering, 60:40 split folding rear seats, dual tone beige interiors, 2 DIN CD + MP3 Music System, front & rear power windows, refrigerated glove box, a multi information display and tachometer as standard equipment.
One batch of i20s was exported to Europe in November 2008 and according to HMIL Managing Director H. S. Lheem, the car received an ‘overwhelming response’ from the automobile media there.
