Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has plans to boost its output at its Tapukara production facility. The move by automaker will enable it to meet the growing demand for its car models in India.

The automaker is expected to start a second shift at the facility in the coming months in 2014-2015 in line with its target of achieving a 50 percent increment in sales in the fiscal 2014-15.

It is also expected that the carmaker may increase the production capacity at the Tapukara plant in order to meet its target of 3,00,000 sales annually by the fiscal 2016-17.

Mr. Shigeru Yamazaki Senior Vice President and Director (Sales and Marketing) Honda Cars India stated that in response to the growing demand for Honda cars in India, the automaker is aiming for full capacity utilization at the facility by the end of the fiscal 2014-15.

Currently the facility produces 60,000 units at the facility in a single shift while the total capacity is 1,20,000 units in two shifts.
