Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of the American automobile manufacturer Ford has posted sales of 12,288 units for the month of May 2014. The sales figures for the month have more than doubled up from 5,993 units sold in May 2013.
The automaker recorded domestic sales of 6,053 units in May 2014 in comparison to 4,002 units sold in May 2013. The boost in total sales mainly comprised of the increment in exports from 1,991 units in May 2013 to 6,235 vehicles in May 2014.
Commenting on the sales outlook for the fiscal 2014-15, Mr. Vinay Piparsania Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Ford India stated that it expects due support from the new government in India with new industry-friendly initiatives such as reduction in excise duty reduction and other positive measures to enhance consumer sentiments.
