General Motors (GM) India, the Indian arm of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors has announced its decision to launch the new 2013 Chevrolet Sail in India on February 1, 2013. The new mid-size sedan will compete with the likes of the Swift DZire by Maruti Suzuki, the Etios sedan by Toyota, the Verna sedan by Hyundai and the Vento sedan by Volkswagen.
The new car to be launched on February 1, 2013 is based on Sail U-VA platform and features both variant option of petrol and diesel engine. While the diesel version of the Sail sedan will be equipped with a 1.3 liter turbocharged diesel engine, the petrol version will be powered by a 1.2 liter petrol engine.
Among the safety features of the top level variant of the mid-size sedan are speed sensitive auto door locks, electronic brake force distribution system and anti-lock brake system apart from airbags and collapsible steering system. The car also features side impact beams on doors to enhance the security of passengers.
The expected price for the Sail sedan is expected to be in the range of Rs 6,50,000 to Rs 7,50,000. The company is also planning to launch the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV.
