After the success of Figo, Ford India is planning to launch two new small cars in the Indian market. These cars will be placed in the same price bracket as the Ford Figo. Ford Figo which has sold over 1,00,000 units in India since launch has inspired Ford to launch more cars in the small car segment. Fordβs APAC President, Mr. Joe Hinrich in a statement stated that as more than 70 percent of the car sales in India come from the small car segment. Thus, most of Fordβs upcoming eight products are planned to be positioned in the same segment as that of the Figo.
Of the two new small cars which are expected to the hit the Indian roads in 2011, one is expected to be a mini sports utility vehicle, while the other would be a car placed below Ford Figo hatchback. There are also rumors that the company will launch a new hatchback version of its popular sedan Ford Fiesta by 2012.
