Ford India has recorded sales figure 7,867 units in the Indian market for July 2013, a 26 percent increase compared to July 2012, when it sold 6,236 units. The company also exported 4,471 units in the month, its highest number ever, an increase of 114 percent year-on-year from 2,087 units.

The EcoSport SUV, launched towards the end of June, according to the company, received 30,000 bookings in the first 17 days after its launch. However, it also ran into a few problems with the company recalling the diesel variant (972 units in all) for a problem with the location of the glow plug module.

The company has also begun shipments of the EcoSport to South Africa, Mexico and Aruba. Aruba is an island in the South Caribbean sea, located about 30km from Venezuela. Ford India inaugurated a dedicated car parking yard at the Chennai port. Chennai will be a global hub for EcoSport exports, the company’s president Alan Mulally had said when he visited the Chennai facility at the rollout of the SUV on June 17.
