Production of the Porsche Cayenne and Panamera has been halted because of the horrific flooding that has happened in Germany. The assembly plant Leipzig Germany is no longer on the move, as supplies have been hampered and are not available for the cars.

Even though BMW has a plant in Leipzig their operations have not been impacted by the floods. This is because Porsche have their supplies brought in by trains that travel over the affected areas. A Porsche employee stated that there was a bottleneck in the supply of car bodies at the parent company – Volkswagen’s pant in Bratislava, hence the reason why supplies could not reach the Porsche facility.

The company will however increase the number of shifts at a later date when the supplies reach to offset the decrease in their output.
