Audi India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Audi has reported a growth of 82 percent in its sales for the month of September 2012. The automaker sold 1,011 units in the month compared with 555 units sold in the month of September 2011. It was also the highest-ever grossing month for Audi India.

The carmaker has already crossed the annual sales figure of 5,511 units for the period January to December 2011 selling 6,417 units in the period of January to September 2012.

According to Mr. Michael Perschke Head Audi India, the company expects to surpass its 2012 sales target of 8,000 car sales by the end of the year 2012. He added that the company has been forced to increase prices on the Q3 luxury sports utility vehicle due to the rise in input costs and inflation. Other car models are also being evaluated for price increment by the company. The price hike will however be implemented after the festival season during the later part of November or December 2012 in order to retain the festive spirit of the Indian car market.
