Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is planning to make India an export hub for the manufacturing and supply of manual transmissions to global markets such as Asia and Latin America.

According to Mr. Yoshiyuki Matsumoto Managing Officer Honda Motor & Representative of Development, Purchasing & Production in Asia and Oceania Region, the carmaker plans to use the newly set up Rajasthan facility to manufacture and supply manual gears to its overseas markets.

The carmaker will support its operations in other parts of the world through low cost manufacturing in India. The carmaker is already utilizing India’s low cost manufacturing capabilities for exporting auto components.
