Nissan India hikes car prices by up to 2.9 percent in October 2013

Nissan India, the Indian arm of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has implemented a price hike of up to 2.9 percent on the Sunny sedan and the Micra hatchback in the month of October 2013. The carmaker has attributed the rising input costs and depreciation of the Indian Rupee for the price hike.

The price hike in the range of 1.4 percent to 2.9 percent on the Sunny sedan and the Micra hatchback comes into effect from October 1, 2013. Mr. Nitish Tipnis Director (Sales & Marketing) Hover Automotive India (Nissan’s National Sales Company in India) stated that the prices have been hiked in order to offset the high input costs and increase in cost of raw material brought about by inflation.

Like many other carmakers in India, Nissan has also taken the price hike route in order to address the rising input costs as a result of the depreciation of the Indian rupee. These carmakers include Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, General Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.
