The newly launched Alto 800 small car has regained its position as the bestselling car in India recording bookings of more than 44,000 units in a month after its launch in October 16, 2012. It has been reported that more than half of the total bookings for the small car have already been delivered to the customers.
The major contributors to the sales figures are the Tier-I and the Tier-II cities in the Indian car market. Moreover, some of the cities have also recorded sales of more than 200 cars in a day.
Prior to its launch date, the company had already received advanced bookings for more than 10,000 units although none of the technical specifications of the car model had been released by the company.
The Alto 800 offers a mileage of 22 kilometers per liter on petrol fuel while it can run about 30 kilometers per kilograms of CNG fuel. With these claimed fuel efficiency, the company has garnered a significant boost in its sales.
