Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has announced that the new Alto 800 will be launched on October 16, 2012. As on October 12, 2012, the car model had already received bookings for about 6,500 cars. The automaker expects the new car to cross 10,000 bookings before its launch date.
The automaker has not released the price or the specifications of the new car maintaining suspense to add to the hype around the car launch. Mr. Mayank Pareek Chief Operating Officer (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) stated that the current rate of bookings indicate that the company will have received more than 10,000 bookings by the launch date for the car model.
So far, the only information provided by the Japanese carmaker is that the car will offer a fuel efficiency of 22.74 kilometers per liter and that the car will have an 800cc engine. The new mileage of the car model is a 15 percent improvement over the existing version. The gear shift and leg room for rear passengers have also been improved as claimed by the company.
