Volkswagen might introduce its Spanish ‘SEAT’ brand cars in India.
The Spanish car brand SEAT will make its debut in China in 2012. The company took the wraps off its products for the Chinese market at the Shangai Motor Show in April 2011. SEAT’s range of cars is built on Volkswagen’s global car models, similar to Skoda.
According to reports, Volkswagen is seriously contemplating on launching its Spanish SEAT brand in India to capture the budget car market in India as these cars are competitively priced; and can help boost the sales figures of the company.
SEAT brand range of cars includes Ibiza and Mii in the compact hatchback segment, Alhambra MPV in Multi Utility vehicle segment and Exeo in premium sedan segment. To test the Indian waters, the company is expected to introduce SEAT Mii hatchback first, which is based on Volkswagen UP.
