Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) introduced the CNG variant of the Innova, last week. The CNG-powered Innova comes with a 1998cc, 16V DOHC VVTi petrol engine, also compatible with CNG. The driver can switch from petrol to CNG and vice versa using a manual selector switch. The CNG Innovaβs running cost is estimated to be almost 50 per cent lower than that of a diesel-powered one. TKM Deputy MD (Marketing), Mr. Sandeep Singh said that the CNG powered Innova will not only be eco- friendly, cutting carbon monoxide emissions by 90 per cent, but will also be hugely economical. It will cost approximately Rs.85,000 more than its petrol version. TKM has tied up with M/s Minda Auto Gas Ltd to supply the CNG kits.
