Japanese carmaker Toyota is expected to introduce in India its in-house performance tuning shop, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) in the year 2012. The company plans to showcase its range of products from the TRD at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012. Toyota is also planning to bring to India its luxury car brand Lexus to compete directly with the German companies namely Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW in the luxury car segment. Currently, the luxury car market in India is dominated by these three companies.
With the motorsports in India on the rise, Toyota may see it as an opportunity to launch TRD which is also engaged in motorsports and specializes in accessories and performance parts and enhancements. These include suspension kits, superchargers, brake pads and sport exhausts for Toyota car models such as the Corolla,the Camry,the Land Cruiser and the Fortuner.
