Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) announced on January 16, 2012 its plans to open the bookings for its new SUV XUV 500 from January 25, 2012. The bookings for the SUV will be opened for a limited period of 10 days starting from January 25. However, the company will invite bookings across 19 cities in India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh / Panchkula, Patiala, Jallandhar, Ludhiana, Trivandrum, Kochi, Calicut, Coimbatore, Trissur, Nasik and Nagpur.
Keeping the customer’s interest in mind, in case of bookings exceeding 7200 requests, M&M will conduct a draw, a fair and transparent method for the new SUV for the next phase of bookings, the results of which will come out by February 15, 2012. The application form for the draw will cost an amount of Rs. 80,000 and the timings for the submission of applications will stretch from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The company stopped accepting bookings for the XUV 500 for the reasons of lack of adequate production of the SUV. Within 10 days of the launch of the new SUV, Mahindra had sold more than 8,000 units across 5 cities in India.
