Nissan India has started accepting booking orders for the upcoming diesel version of its small car, Micra, at its dealerships across India. The car is expected to be launched before December 25, 2010. Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and CEO – Nissan Motor India, said that given the positive customer response to the petrol Micra, the company is confident that the car’s diesel variant, too, will do well. A press release issued by the company said that it had also launched a comprehensive multimedia ad campaign to promote the diesel Micra.
Nissan launched the petrol version of the Micra in July 2010, and has so far managed to sell 4,500 units of it. The made-in-India compact car is manufactured at the Japanese company’s Oragadam plant in Chennai. The plant will also be used to produce a new global sedan built on Nissan’s V-platform (also used in the Micra), to be showcased at the 8th China International Automobile Exhibition in December 2010.
