Maserati was once again present as sponsor of the 13th edition of the Goodwood Revival meeting, which welcomed over 100,000 spectators over the course of the weekend.
This year’s event honoured one of the greatest names in automotive history, Juan Manuel Fangio, who competed at Goodwood in 1952 and ’53. 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of the Argentinean legend’s birth, whose name is indissolubly linked to Maserati as he won a Formula One world championship title with a 250 F in 1957.
Several track parades in his honour took place throughout the weekend, featuring many cars that travelled from all over the world especially for the Goodwood Revival meeting. Formula One legends including John Surtees, Maria Teresa de Filippis (the first woman to race in Formula One) and Sir Stirling Moss, who celebrated his 82nd birthday during the course of the event, were all in attendance to pay their tribute to Fangio.
Away from the thrilling on-track action, Maserati exhibited in the Earls Court Motorshow, recreating the glamour of an authentic 1960s show. A stunning Maserati Mistral Spyder alongside a Quattroporte Mk I wowed the spectators, whilst they were offered a tantalising glimpse of Maserati’s “cars of the future” in the form of the new Maserati GranCabrio and the stunning Quattroporte Sport GTS, beautiful evolutions of the 1960s models.
On Sunday 140 Maserati clients were treated to sumptuous hospitality at Goodwood House, where Maserati hosted its annual Goodwood Revival lunch. The spectacular display on the lawn in front of Goodwood House featured all the cars in the Maserati Range, including the new Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. Inside the House, guests admired an incredible display of jewels featuring rare Argyle pink diamonds courtesy of Calleija of Bond Street and ladies enjoyed the possibility of having their make-up perfected by a professional make-up artist from the Jemma Kidd Make Up School.
The prize for the Best Dressed Maserati Lady went this year to Ms Janet Cheshire who received from Catherine Barnett and Jenna Dickson of Calleija of Bond Street a stunning pendant featuring an extremely rare pink Argyle diamond, whilst Ms Ann Simmons received the prize for Best Make-Up and was awarded, by Jessica Perfect of Jemma Kidd Make Up, a goodie bag full of beauty essentials, and Jemma Kidd’s book on professional techniques and wearable looks, Make-Up Masterclass.
