A lot of people were very skeptical about Tata’s takeover of Jaguar Land Rover, but over the years the brands have solidly built up their reputation and have come out with some magnificent cars. But everyone was still concerned weather or not the two luxury brands could hold their ground if their cars were being in India. Well sooner than later the skeptics can be answered. Word on the street is that Land Rover will take the plunge before Jaguar into starting a local production facility. It seems that Indian owners Tata are also very keen to do this, because as we said before the SUV space is heating up in the country and Land Rover had their small SUV the Defender on display at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. Most likely it will be the Defender that will be the first car to be made in India. This is good news for India as it will show their true strengths and even more interestingly it will show that India is very capable of producing high –end quality cars. What’s even more interesting is that the Defender will share parts with the Aria. I say its taken Tata quite a bit of time to finally initiate the process, now all we can do is play the waiting game.
