Hyundai Motor India, the largest car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in India has recorded a decline of 14.9 percent in its sales for the month of February 2014. The Korean carmaker sold a total of 46,505 units in the month compared with 54,665 units sold in the same month in 2013.

The domestic sales of the carmaker witnessed insignificant increase from 34,002 units sold in February 2013 to 34,005 units sold in February 2014. The exports of the carmaker bore the majority of the overall sales decline as they dropped by 39.5 percent from 20,663 units in February 2013 to 12,500 units in February 2014.

Speaking about the future sales outlook for the carmaker, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Hyundai Motor India stated that the recent reduction in the excise duty by the Finance Ministry of India has resulted in an increase of 2 percent in the enquiries. He added that reduction will further lead to creation of positive momentum in the Indian auto industry.
