    Ford India posts 38.28 percent decline in March 2013 sales

    Ford India, the Indian arm of American automobile manufacturer Ford has recorded a decline of 38.28 percent in its total sales for the month of March 2013. The carmaker sold a total of 7,499 units in the month in comparison to 12,150 units sold in the same month in 2012.

    The automaker’s sales in the domestic market fell by 41.61 percent with sales of 5,271 units in March 2013 in comparison to 9,028 units sold in March 2012. The exports of the company also fell by 28.64 percent selling 2,228 units in the month against 3,122 units sold in March 2012.

    According to Mr. Vinay Piparsania Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Ford India, the carmaker expects stronger sales growth in the future and states the current downturn as cyclical. He added that the company has continued to build the Ford brand in the Indian market despite difficult business conditions.
