Cubans had not been allowed to buy or sell cars for more than 50 years. As a result of the success of the Fidel Castro led revolution in 1959 and the reform of the Cuban government along communist lines, whoever had a car kept it. Until a recent relaxation of these rules, buying and selling cars had been a near impossible task. Due to these restrictions, Cuba became the world’s largest living museum of classic and vintage cars.
