The German luxury car manufacturer Audi declared its sales 408 units in May 2011, a growth of 104% against 200 units in May 2010. For the period January – May 2011, the company sold 2,394 units – an impressive growth of 105% over the same period last year when it had sold 1,167 units.

Mr. Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India said “We attribute our solid sales growth to our philosophy of thinking ahead of the curve and our ability to bring innovative and progressive products to India. This strong growth rate, even in times of rising fuel prices and interest rates, demonstrates the strong brand and product pull. The recently launched Audi A7 Sportback and Audi RS5 have received an overwhelming response from our customers across the country. The new Audi A6, which soon arrives on Indian roads, will further consolidate our position in the luxury limousine segment. I am confident that with the support of our dealer partners and our loyal customer base, 2011 will be a defining year for Audi in India”.

Audi India has adopted an aggressive product strategy this year with the launch of a series of class-defining models, beginning with the Audi A8 L, the super sports cars, Audi R8 V10 and Audi R8 Spyder, the design marvel, Audi A7 Sportback and the high performance Coupé, Audi RS5. Audi continues to be the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India with its Q5 and Q7 and in the super sports car segment with its iconic R8. Globally too, Audi continued to maintain its No.1 position in Europe and China and is the fastest growing luxury car brand in USA and India. While China has overtaken Germany as the single biggest market for AUDI, we are also deploying some proven strategies from China to the Indian market, such as our product offensive, qualitative network growth and strong brand building process.

Audi India will continue to focus on strengthening its dealer network across India. The brand with the four rings is currently present in 13 locations across the country: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West and Pune. Further developments include Coimbatore, Delhi West, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai South and Surat. The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5, the super sports cars Audi R8, Audi R8 Spyder.
