The Indian subsidiary of the German luxury car manufacturer, Audi India has reported a 10 percent increase in its sales for the month of May 2012 at 450 units in comparison to 408 cars sold in the same period in 2011. In the period of January to May 2012, the company has witnessed a growth of 37 percent selling 3,281 cars in comparison to 2,394 cars sold in the same period in 2011.

According to Mr. Michael Perschke Head Audi India, the company is planning product expansion and launch of new car models in the Indian market to sustain growth and profitability. He added that the hike in petrol price has been a significant factor in the slowdown in the auto industry in addition to the depreciation of the Indian rupee.

Mr. Perschke however stated that the company expects growth in India in spite of the current challenges.
