Ford India reduces prices of the Ford Classic by up to Rs 1,00,000

Ford India, the Indian arm of the American automaker Ford has reduced the prices of the Ford Classic sedan by up Rs 1,00,000. After the price reduction, which has been implemented across all variants, the entry level price of the Classic sedan is Rs 4,99,000 while the top-end variant costs Rs 7,60,000.

The slashing of prices has brought the sedan to be positioned against the car models in the compact sedan segment such as the Maruti Suzuki DZire compact, the Honda Amaze and other sub-4 meter sedans being launched in India.

Commenting about the price slash, Mr. Vinay Piparsania Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Ford India stated that the price reduction is in line with the carmaker’s global promise ‘Go Further’. The automaker is attempting to meet customer expectations in terms of value proposition and pricing. He added that the cost reduction was enabled by optimizing efficiencies.

Auto industry experts are of the opinion that the repositioning of the Classic sedan may also mean that the new Fiesta sedan by Ford may be positioned by the carmaker against the likes of the Honda City, the Hyundai Verna and the Volkswagen Vento sedans.
