Maruti Suzuki Alto, the world’s largest selling small car by Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 20,00,000 sales mark since its launch in 2000, in a time period of 11 years and 9 months. The small car which has been the highest selling car in the domestic market since 2005 has also been the fastest sold car selling 10,00,000 units in the first 8 years and 3 months of launch and breaking its own record clocking another 10,00,000 sales in 3 years and 6 months.
Speaking on the achievement of this milestone, Mr. Mayank Pareek Chief Operating Officer (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki India stated that the 20,00,000 mark has been possible due to the superior efficiency as well as the overall low ownership cost of the small car which makes it an ideal deal for a first time buyer.
Apart from its achievements and milestones in the domestic market, the Alto also holds the record as the only Indian car to cross 3,00,000 annual sales globally in the fiscal 2010-11.
