Volkswagen has reported an increase of 3.36 percent in its sales in India in the month of January 2012 selling 5,789 units compared to 5,601 units for the same period in 2011. The company’s compact hatchback Polo and the Vento sedan are the major contributors to the sales figure selling a combined total of 5,402 units in January 2012, stated the company.
The company has sold a total 387 units of the Jetta and the Passat its luxury sedans in January 2012. According to Mr. Neeraj Garg Volkswagen Group Sales India Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, the January 2012 sales have shown a very slight growth in comparison to the sales in January 2011. However, taking the growth as a positive sign, the company expects the sales numbers to rise.
