German automaker Porshe has announced the launch of its new generation Porsche Boxster to be on January 14, 2012. The new revamped car features a new light weight body and chassis along with a longer wheelbase and larger wheels. Supported by a new electro-mechanical power steering, the new car has better performance and is 15 percent more fuel efficient offering 100 kilometers for less than 8 liters of fuel. Also, the interiors of the new car offer more space and improved ergonomics.
The sports car will be available in two models, namely the Boxster and the Boxster S. The Boxster base model will be powered by a 2.7 liter engine and offers a power of 265hp and the Boxster S will have the 3.4 liter engine which delivers a power of 315hp. Both the engines will be paired with a manual 6-speed gearbox as standard and the optional 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) will also be available. The new Boxster is capable of speeding from 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds, while the Boxster S can make it in 5 seconds.
Porsche also provides the Sport Chrono Package for the Boxster which features dynamic transmission mounts in order to enhance driving dynamics. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) is a new feature in the Boxster with mechanical rear axle differential lock.
