Fab Five for Captiva! – International

    carsBy carsOctober 27, 2011Updated:July 11, 2026No Comments3 Mins Read

Chevrolet’s latest range of models are renowned for punching above their weight, but how’s this for a bunch of fives?

The New Captiva SUV has become the fifth Chevrolet model in two years to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP crash safety rating, providing an 88 per cent rating overall for adult occupant protection in the event of a collision.

The Captiva joins the Orlando, Volt, Cruze and New Aveo in Chevrolet’s five-star line-up – cars that were already highly regarded for their five-star equipment levels, but also excel in safety terms as well.

Chevrolet UK Managing Director Mark Terry said: “It’s great news that the Captiva has gained a five-star Euro NCAP rating – it proves that the design appeal of our new range of vehicles is more than just skin deep. We might have one of the most modern and best-looking model ranges on the market, but safety is just as paramount as kerbside appeal, and the current Chevrolet line-up clearly delivers both.”

Backing up the peace of mind, another famous five for Chevrolet is the brand’s five-year, 100,000-mile warranty, available across the model range, including Captiva.

“Customers can really choose a Chevrolet with confidence,” added Mark Terry. “Not one of our current models is more than two years old. Modern design, safety and reliability are key reasons for choosing a Chevrolet, not to mention the fact we still offer some of the best value cars on the market.”

Standard safety equipment, which contributed to the Captiva’s five-star Euro NCAP rating, includes standard Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Brake Assist, Descent Control, front, side and roof curtain airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, 3×3-point rear seatbelts, ISOFIX child restraint system, active head restraints, a releasable pedal assembly and an electronic parking brake.

The New Captiva was introduced in the summer, with a new 2.2-litre common-rail turbodiesel engine offering as much as 184PS, seating for up to seven passengers, and a choice of manual or automatic six-speed transmissions. Priced from £21,995, it builds on the success of the previous Captiva as one of the best value full-size SUVs on the market.
