The Jeep brand has finally entered into the Indian market with officially launched Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. The models are available at price segment between Rs. 71.59 lakh to Rs. 1.12 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The prices are unexpectedly high just because of the Jeep models are fully-imported as CBUs from the North American plant.
For now, Jeep has only two dealership in India, which are located in Ahmedabad and Delhi, however company announced for more dealerships in cities like Chennai and Mumbai by October followed by Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kochi and Bangalore later in the year. Company has also inagurated a parts distribution centre in Chakan.

Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee technical detail:
The Jeep Wrangler model is powered by a 2.8-litre CRD turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates 200 PS of power @ 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque @ 1,600-2,000 rpm. It can deliver a fuel efficiency of 12.1 km/l as per ARAI and fitted with a 5-speed automatic gearbox and Command-Trac 4WD system.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and Summit models are powered by a 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel engine that can produce 243 PS of power @ 3,600rpm and 570 Nm of maximum torque @ 2,000 rpm, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine can deliver a certified mileage of 12.8 km/l.
At the end the top of the model Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is powered by 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine that produces 475 PS of power at 6,250 rpm and 624 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. It is fitted with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
