German automobile manufacturer BMW has opened India’s first mobile showroom for its car products which has commenced its journey across the country from Karnal in the state of Haryana. The travelling showroom is a new concept for the Indian auto industry and has been launched by the company as a rehearsal to open 15 new showrooms in various locations.

Commenting on the concept of a mobile showroom, Mr. Andreas Schaaf President BMW Group India stated that the company is targeting the customers in the emerging markets with the help of BMW Mobile Showrooms. The mobility of the showroom will enable the company to make strategic decisions and develop its dealer network in the Indian automobile market, he added. The mobile showroom includes all the BMW car models available in India for both display and for test drives.

The reason for choosing Karnal for commencing the Mobile Showroom operations has been stated to be the high growth rate of the city. Moreover, the city offers another base to the company in the Northern region of the Indian auto market, stated Mr. Schaaf. He also added that the next level of growth for the company is expected to be centered on the Tier II and Tier III cities.

The other places to be covered by the mobile showroom are Agra, Dehradun, Jamshedpur, Patna, Bhopal and Nashik.
