Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car manufacturer has accelerated the development of the 800cc car being planned for a Diwali launch later in 2012. The company has initiated the trials runs of the new car.
With the launch of an advanced, improved and technologically superior 800cc car which is also expected to have higher fuel efficiency, the company plans to boost its sales in the small car segment where it has been losing share with the Alto 800 cc. While the trial runs have already commenced, the remaining work on the new car will be done after July 1, 2012.
The new car will compete with the likes of the Eon small car by Hyundai in the same segment. Moreover, the company expects the new car to help it recover from the falling sales with a focus on making it as fuel efficiency as possible.
