    Volkswagen plans to launch new ‘UP’ based small car in India

    Volkswagen has announced its plans to launch a new small car in India which will be based on its global car ‘UP’ model. The launch will aim to tap into the potential of small car market in India. According to industry experts, the new car may be launched after being unveiled at the Paris Grand Palais, Champs Elysees, Paris.

    The small car will be launched by Volkswagen with both petrol and diesel option. While the petrol variant will have an 800cc engine, the diesel variant will be equipped with a 1.2 liter engine.

    The company plans on increasing presence in the Indian car market and turning India into a global manufacturing hub. In the Indian small car segment, the company is competing with leading Indian auto majors Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India.
