Audi has launched the new Audi A8 L W12 quattro which is equipped with a 6.3 FSI petrol engine, acceleration capability of 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The car has been priced at Rs. 1.26 crore (ex showroom Maharashtra). With superior luxury and performance, the car will raise the standards of luxury and engineering in India, said Mr. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
The new car features standard LED headlight units with all lighting functions and an aluminium body based on the Audi Space Frame (ASF) principle, as a result of which the body weighs nearly 40% lesser than a steel body. Among the luxury features are the reclining seat with massage functions and foot rest with power adjustable support along with a folding table, a refrigerator and an entertainment system with two 10.2-inch screens.
According to Mr. Perschke, Audi is planning to launch a series of class-defining models in India including super sports and high performance cars. With these launches, the company expects to continue as the leader in the luxury segment in India. In the months January-June 2011, Audi India has seen a 100% growth in sales to 2,802 cars as compared to 1,400 cars for the same period in the year 2010.
