A 217bhp Volkswagen Polo? Please bring it to India

Okay, just so you know that we are not kidding, check out the pictures and specs and Volkswagen’s website. It seems that they have come out with a Polo that is actually more powerful than a Golf GTI. Is this insane or pure ingenuity? We would like to think it is both. Dubbed as the Polo R Concept, this car is actually being designed and developed to compete in the World Rally Championship series, but believe it or not, the company will actually make a street legal version of the car with almost similar specs, but in a very limited number that will come out in 2013. The car looks just like the Polo’s you see on Indian roads only it has racing stripes and two doors, but it’s what’s under the hood that will really excite you. The car will get a 2.0 litre TSI petrol engine and the Polo WRC Street Model will produce 217bhp and will be able to reach 100kmph in just a little over 6 seconds. The WRC version however will pump out a massive 296bhp and zoom from 0-100kmph in just 4.1 seconds because of all-wheel drive and its lighter weight. This car will definitely be hot and we so desperately hope that they will bring something similar, if not the same car, to Indian shores very soon. In a country that is obsessed with hatches, it’s about bloody time we get a hot sports hatch to India.
