Well, well. It looks like car manufacturers just can’t get enough of ‘the going small’ routine. We have seen this craze with small cars becoming an obsession of sorts with manufacturers from all over the world, but mainly in Europe where strict emission norms are the true cause for the changing trend. But it is also a good thing for people who want small cars, or cheaper cars that can perform just as well as any other big car or SUV. So in order to fit the regulatory norms and the customer needs, Porsche have just revealed plas for their brand new baby SUV, which will be called the Macan.
First of, Macan means Tiger in Indonesia, and this tiger like car will feature a fierce engine that can only be made at such a reputable company such as Porsche. We are most likely to see a 4-cylinder unit in the petrol version, a V6 in the diesels and possibly a hybrid version as well. The dimensions of the car will be somewhere close to, or even smaller than an Audi Q5 and will be developed at Porsche’s Saxony production-line in Leipzig, Germany in 2013. This plant is also being expanded into a full-on production facility including body assembly line and a paint shop. The company is planning an investment of 500 million Euros.
