Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will be launching a new version of its small car, the Zen Estilo, on August 25, 2009. The company will equip all three variants of the car with its 1 litre KB series engine, compliant with Bharat Stage IV norms. The Maruti A-Star too comes fitted with the same engine, while the Ritz runs on a slightly more powerful 1.2 litre KB series engine. Maruti currently sells an average of 2,000 units of the Zen Estilo every month. The new version of the car will feature a redesigned front grille, apart from a different engine.
According to industry sources, Maruti seeks to increase the Zen Estilo’s sales volumes by launching its revamped version. From among the company’s older compact cars, only the Alto and the Wagon R are consistently doing well. The Maruti 800 and the Zen Estilo, on the other hand, have posted a decline in sales.
